    Due to browser restrictions, Nomad for web browsers does not have access to the native operating system’s file system and instead uses the Origin Private File System (OPFS) to store files needed for ordinary operation. The OPFS is contained within the browser’s sandbox for the site and is not accessible from other sites nor the native operating system. Because the OPFS is in the browser storage, clearing the browser storage also clears the file system.
  - COM Helper
    In order to have HCL Nomad for web browsers successfully process Component Object Model (COM) calls from agents and buttons, the Windows client machine needs to have HCL Nomad for web browsers COM Helper installed. COM is a Windows only feature, so the COM Helper only applies to web browsers running on a Windows machine.

Designer

You can use HCL Nomad for web browsers to design Notes databases.

Nomad Designer will open in a separate browser window from HCL Nomad. To open Nomad Designer:

Select Open in Designer from the workspace icon of a database to which you have design access.
Select Open in Designer from the tab of an open database.
Utilize the following Notes URL as a web browser bookmark for Nomad for web browsers including the URL, the Application Switcher, or the StartupURL notes.ini:

notes:///ClientBookmark?OpenDesigner
```

Access to Nomad Designer is enabled by default, but is only available when the user has the appropriate access to the database. To explicitly disable access to Nomad Designer, choose one of the following options:

Set the notes.ini mentioned in Setting notes.ini values in the Nomad Administrator documentation.
Use the MarvelClient Application Restriction. For more information, see Configuring application restrictions on Nomad for web browsers in the Nomad Administrator documentation.

Designer Preview

When you use preview in Nomad Designer as documented here, Previewing your design work.

There is an additional header to allow you to visualize a design element in various screen sizes.

On the left is the name of the design element, in the center is a pulldown selector for platforms, and on the right is a button to return to designer.

The pulldown in the center allows you to select between Phone, Tablet, and Desktop. When the selection changes, the size of the design element will immediately change. When the size changes, the @formula elements are evaluated such that formulas like @Platform, @ResolutionWidth, @ResolutionHeight can be used to adjust the layout of the element.

The button next to the pulldown can be used to switch between landscape and portrait mode.

Customizing the choices:

If you want to modify the list of choices in the pulldown, you can modify the list:

Select File/Application/New
In File Name, enter “designPreview.nsf” (it must be this name)
Check “Show Advanced Templates”
Select the “Design Preview customization” template
Click Ok (the new application will open).
Modify the records in the database as you wish to change the pulldown list. You can duplicate the existing elements with copy/paste to make it easier to customize.
